Renown Group is delighted to announce that their Managing Director, John Hamilton, has been elected a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.
By becoming a Fellow, John has achieved the highest level of elected membership, by demonstrating his hard work and exceptional commitment to the mechanical engineering profession.
As an elected Member, he has joined a prestigious group of engineers who have all contributed to the industry through their innovations in manufacturing and engineering.
The Institute of Mechanical Engineering is a leading membership organisation representing engineers working across a range of diverse and innovative sectors. Part of their role is to have a clear understanding of the challenges and opportunities that we face and how they can offer solutions and educate people to solve these problems.
The Institute has been at the heart of mechanical engineering since 1847 and has accumulated over 115,000 members in 140 countries in this time, and is recognised as the fastest growing professional engineering Institution in the UK.
Working hard to combat issues in topical affairs which affect society and its members, the Institute strives to nurture new talent and help engineers build their careers and knowledge across a range of industries such as Energy, Environment, Transport, Manufacturing and Education.
Becoming a Fellow of IMechE is a significant achievement, which requires exceptional skills, qualities, and experience. In order to considered by the Trustee Board, you have to have demonstrable abilities across a range of areas, such as having a structured approach to CPD (Continuing Professional Development), having specialist knowledge in a specific area of engineering, and being engaged in the promotion of the engineering profession to young engineers and potential engineers.
The Trustee Board has recognised John’s contribution to industry throughout his career. He is now the Managing Director of a Group of engineering companies with an annual turnover of £12m.
John joined Renown Engineering Ltd (established in 1986), in 2005. This change of management heralded a new phase of growth for the business. As the business grew, Renown Engineering acquired more companies to help diversify across a range of industries. The Group now consists of three companies situated across three sites in the North East of England, employing over 150 people.
John commented: ‘I am very proud to have been elected as a Fellow for such a reputable institution. I am excited to be a member of such a great community which all share the same values: to continue innovating and educating the principles of the professional engineering practice. I am honoured to have gained this accomplishment and I look forward to supporting other engineers as they develop their careers.’
